A stylish Scandinavian interior: easier than you think

Scandinavian interior design is the latest trend. And rightly so, as a stylish but sober Nordic decor will turn your home into an oasis of peace and tranquillity. The perfect place to escape from all the demands of everyday life! Would you like to know how to apply the Scandinavian style to your own home decor? Please find below a few tips already.

Bring nature into your home

It is a well-known fact that a lot of Scandinavians like to spend as much time outdoors as possible. That is not so easy given the long winters, but fortunately a typical Scandinavian interior is perfectly equipped for that. By incorporating as many natural materials as possible into your home, you will almost feel as if you were outdoors.

Wooden furniture and floors? Yes, please. Adding a few accents of leather to incorporate a little variety? Even better! And then you can finish the entire look with a few beautiful house plants. Soft and cosy fabrics

Besides these natural materials, soft and cosy fabrics are also a must to achieve that Scandi look. After all, in cold Nordic winters you will soon be grateful for a little extra warmth. We are lucky that our local climate is not quite so extreme, but let’s be honest. Doesn’t everyone like to snuggle up under a warm blanket to spend some time reading a good book or watching a spell-binding series?

Soft fabrics also add a cosy touch and soften the minimalistic Scandi style. For example, you could choose a woollen rug for that wooden floor. It’s not only natural but also nice and warm and cosy!

Let there be light!

Large windows that let in plenty of sunlight are typical of Scandinavian design. However, in Scandinavia, for the majority of the year there is very little daylight to enjoy, so it is even more important to introduce more light into your home decor in other ways. The best way of achieving this is to use soft and neutral colours. You could, for example, opt for a soothing colour palette of white and grey with soft blue accents. And there you have it. Your interior is suddenly reminiscent of a beautiful and relaxing winter landscape.

Perhaps you yourself prefer a little more colour? No problem at all. Soft pink and green accent colours are becoming increasingly popular in Scandinavian interior design. A warm, brightly coloured rug will also look perfect on that light-coloured wooden floor.
