1. What is the difference between Par-ky and a laminate floor?

Par-ky shares the most important technologies with the laminate floors: limited thickness, floating installation, water-resistant core panel and uniclic. However, Par-ky does not just have an image of wood on paper with a melamine top layer like the laminate floors! Par-ky has a top layer of real wood, protected by 8 ultra-strong layers of lacquer.

Real wood instead of a paper print offers a lot of advantages that we can divide into 3 categories:

  1. esthetical: unique designs, authentic light reflections and 3D effects. Moreover, a repetition of the boards is impossible in your Par-ky floor as 2 identical trees don’t exist in nature.
  2. warm: no cold feet when you walk on the Par-ky floor: real wood feels much warmer (feel the difference by touching both with your palm)
  3. solid step sound: no shrill noise by walking on the floor. In Par-ky SOUND and DELUXE we optimize this sound even more thanks to a 2mm cork layer that is glued at the back of the panel.

2. A thin layer of real wood, is it strong enough?

Yes it is, for the following reasons:

  1. The thinner the top layer of wood, the stronger the floor. The core panel of Par-ky is an HDF panel (High Density Fibreboard), which is much stronger than any wood specie (1100 kg/m³ ⇔ e.g. oak : 700 kg/m³). (open a phone book on page 100, hammer it and watch the dent; compare this with 1 page on a hard subfloor).
  2. Ultra-strong lacquer of Par-ky. As wood is rather soft, the thin top layer of wood of Par-ky (0.6mm) is impregnated for 97% with glue and we apply as much as 8 layers of uv hardened lacquer. The process of the penetrating glue in combination with the ultra-strong lacquer is called the DSI-technique: Double Sided Impregnation. Thanks to this technique the top layer becomes very strong.

3. It is possible to sand a Par-ky floor?

The advantage is that you don’t have to sand it anymore. Thanks to the DSI lacquering system (question 3) and the ultra-strong HDF panel, it is almost impossible to make dents, and even when it happens, they are only 0.6mm deep. In extreme situations it is possible to apply an extra layer of lacquer, but this can only be done by a professional installer.

As you don’t have to sand Par-ky, you save a lot of time, money and dust.

4. In which applications can Par-ky be used?

Par-ky is suitable for domestic and light commercial use. The life of Par-ky does not depend on the installed wood specie. However we recommend to avoid Par-ky in damp rooms, such as a bath room.

5. Does the color of the wood changes in the course of time?

Yes. Under the influence of sunlight the color of the wood intensifies. This is a natural process.

6. How can I avoid scratches?

Like every wooden floor, also Par-ky is liable to small scratches. To avoid this: maintain your floor, put a doormat at the entrance of the room, put a piece of felt on the chairlegs and also a protective mat under chairs with wheels.

7. How do I have to maintain Par-ky?

7. How do I have to maintain Par-ky?

Normal maintenance: duster (flipper) / vacuum cleaner. We also advise to clean your Par-ky floor every 2 weeks with the specially developed Par-ky cleaner. This cleaner not only cleans the wood, but also gives an extra protection. We recommend to avoid too much water.

8. How many years of warranty do I have on my Par-ky floor?

15 years on the Par-ky brushed collections and 20 years on the Par-ky sealed collections. This warranty is only valid if the warranty conditions have been fulfilled.

9. What are the advantages of the Uniclic system?

Uniclic, the installation system without glue, has advantages during the installation – no glue spots, no open joints, you don’t have to move your furniture to another room, faster and easier installation – as well as after the installation – you can immediately walk on it, easy replacement and easy reparation.

10. Is Par-ky also suitable for underfloor heating?

Par-ky can be installed on underfloor heating without a problem. However, as there are different types of underfloor heating systems, we recommend to follow the instructions of the producer. Afterwards you can raise the temperature but the surface temperature of the flooring should not exceed 28°C in any case. You can get more information in your official Par-ky point of sale or in the attached document.
