Laying Parky Parquet: How to Start

A good start is half the battle

For every job, good preparation is key. With these tips, you'll be optimally prepared to install your Parky floor.
  • Check the flatness of the surface and place an underlayment for floating placement or unevenness.
  • Lay out the planks 24 hours in advance to acclimate.
  • Remove dust, remove the doors, and provide enough lighting.
  • Provide the right and necessary materials, such as the Parky installation kit, a saw hook, a utility knife, aluminum tape, and the right underlayment.

Insider tip from our Parky expert: no matter how big or small the job, a few knee pads are a must.

Floating or Glued Laying of Parquet

Thanks to the tongue and groove on each plank and the easy click systems, you can easily install a parquet floor. If you choose the popular PRO06, you simply tap each plank together with a hammer. If you choose a long plank or herringbone pattern, you simply slide each plank together and easily press it down. So, click and ready.

Since you easily click together your Parky floors, most people prefer a floating placement. However, if you prefer a glued placement, that is also possible. Just make sure to use the right parquet glue and get advice from your Parky dealer.

Which underlayment do I choose for my parquet?

To keep your parquet floor in top form and for more comfort, you can place an underlayment. Underlays protect against moisture or dampness, reduce noise, are heat-insulating, and level unevenness for floating placement.

Parquet and Floor Heating, a Match?

Whether you choose a wet or a dry floor heating system, both can be combined with Parky. A wet system means that the heating pipes are inserted directly into the screed. A dry system means that the heating pipes are placed on an underlayment and connected to a power source. Both systems are compatible with Parky, but it is important to consult a specialist before installing floor heating with parquet.
